英國徒步冒險家布希比（Karl Bushby）28年前從南美洲的智利出發，歷經5萬公里長征，今（2日）終於回到位在英格蘭東北部的家鄉赫爾（Hull），受到群眾歡呼迎接。
法新社報導，布希比向聚集在市中心的約500人表示：「我不是獨自一人完成，背後有個大團隊、最大的團隊，也就是地球。我是靠著這點回到這裡。」
現年57歲的布希比接下來將踏上旅程的最後一段路，前往位於赫爾北部的母親家中，與母親、他現年36歲的兒子及他從未見過的12歲孫女團聚。
布希比是在婚姻破裂後，於1998年展開這場橫跨4大洲的史詩級長途跋涉。當時29歲的他從南美洲出發，將隨身物品放在1台金屬框推車內推著前行，一路上嚴格遵守2規則：避免利用任何交通工具、未完成挑戰前不得返家。

布希比先是從南到北跨越整個美洲，再從美國的阿拉斯加（Alaska）渡過白令海峽（Bering Strait）進入俄羅斯，接著再行經中亞和歐洲，沿途穿越叢林、山脈、沙漠與結冰的海洋。
布希比曾數度暫停旅程，包括遭遇俄羅斯拒發簽證時，以及2008年碰上全球金融危機，還有後來的COVID-19（2019冠狀病毒疾病）疫情期間。
這些時候他主要會回到在墨西哥的1個據點居住，等到情況解決可再上路時，他便從先前停下的確切地點出發繼續旅程。
布希比今年10月初從法國北部泳渡英吉利海峽（English Channel）終於抵達英國，當時他的父親和一小群親友在英格蘭南部的多佛（Dover）附近海灘迎接他。
布希比昨天跨過赫爾附近的亨柏橋（Humber Bridge），準備完成旅程最後一段進入市中心的路程。當時已有群眾在現場鼓掌歡迎他歸來。
